Adding widgets to your footer in WordPress
Many of the most popular WordPress themes have widget areas in the footer.
You can utilize these area widgets to add text, images, or links to your privacy policy, legal disclaimers, and other essential pages.
Adding text and images is straightforward. To accomplish this, navigate to Appearance » Widgets and then click the ‘+’ button in your ‘Footer Sidebar’ section resembling a text block.
Integrate a footer widget
To add a widget, click the space, and it will appear automatically. If you need additional assistance, then see our article on how to add and utilize widgets in WordPress.
It’s important to note that many themes will have multiple footer widget areas, and they may utilize them differently. After adding widgets, you can observe your website’s design to ensure that the widgets are positioned as you desire. Keep reading this guide & tutorial, you’ll learn the steps for WordPress footer customization and how to edit & change your website’s final section.
Firstly, go to your WordPress admin/dashboard area, Visualmodo > Theme Options, Footer. In this area, you are able to create your footer layout and select if you want to use or not some parts of your footer. Footer Widget Area layout Columns, Footer Breadcrumbs, Footer Text, and Footer Copyright.
WordPress Footer Background Customization
Moreover, on the Theme Options Panel, you can customize more on your footer section. The background color and upload a background image if you want, On WP Dashboard > Visualmodo > theme options > Colors > Footer < (if you’re going to add an image as background, make sure you choose some color also on the Background color, can be any color or even an o, o, o color not to affect the image but you need to have it set and choose).
Finally, go to Appearance, widgets found the tabs – first footer, second footer, third footer, or fourth footer tabs (if you select the columns layout to the center like in the attached image above, use the second footer tab to place a widget on). and choose the widgets you want to and drag it and drop on the tabs.

In the Theme demo site footer here https://theme.visualmodo.com/rare/ and on the image below, we used a ‘text’ widget with a simple HTML code to add the theme logo aligned to the center –

On the ‘After Footer’ tab we drop a widget called ‘Visualmodo – Menu to call a menu of pages on your footer section, the menu needs to be created on WP > Appearance > Menus > Create new menu > name it > add page items on it and simply save it (for the organization we recommend you save it as ‘Footer’ so you can choose this menu using the ‘Visualmodo – Menu’ widget.
In the last part of the copyright footer, we use a ‘Visualmode – contact information’ widget.
You always can upload custom plugins on your WordPress site to give you more widgets, the Jetpack plugin is a good free example of a plugin that will add more nice widgets for your use on your footer. Or even more.
