How to Fix Closed Comments Problem in WordPress? Recently a message appeared in some of my old posts showing that ‘Comments on this entry are closed which means visitors won’t be able to comment on those posts. But I didn’t disable the comments option or any other setting.

After some research, I was able to find the problem. When I searched for these terms on Google I realized that many WordPress users also face this problem. So here is a quick guide to fixing “Comments are Closed” under the posts.

Fixing the Close Comments Problem in WP

You need to change two settings to fix the issue.

Firstly, go to your WordPress dashboard and click on “Discussion” from the “Settings” tab. (Follow Screenshot)

Now check the box “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and uncheck the box “Automatically close comments on articles older than * days.”. Do this to fix the WordPress closed comments issue.

Then click on “Save Changes.”

Now let’s see the second settings to configure.

Go to the post that shows “Comments are Closed” and Edit the post. Secondly, in the top right of the Dashboard, you’ll see ‘Screen Options. Click on it.

Screen Options will slide out. Make sure the “Discussion” checkbox is up.

Now Scroll down to the bottom, and you’ll find a ‘Discussion’ option. Make sure that the “Allow Comments” checkbox is present. And Update your post to fix the closed comments WordPress issue.

Finally, that’s it. you’re ready. Now people can comment on your blog posts that “Comments are Closed.”
